Zarathustra is the name of a hawk, the first familiar kept by John Blake in the book Master and Student.
John always refers to the hawk as 'she', while Isaac refers to her as 'it' and refuses to use the name.
Zarathustra is initially tethered in John's study, and frequently spends the day perched either on a reading lectern, or on Isaac. However, she later escapes her tether, and is known to come out into the city with John. She is also capable of flying through a scrying mirror, although this shouldn't be possible given the spell used to create it.
She hunts rats in the study.
